Allows easier engine swapping! This hybrid k-member bolts into a 1979-1995 Mustang chassis, and has the engine mounting pads and steering rack location to allow fitment of these engines:

  • 5.0L Coyote (2011-2014 and 2015+) See Fitment Notes
  • 4.6L/5.4L modular
  • 3.8L V6
  • LSX

Get more front grip and dramatically improve the handling of your Mustang with an MM tubular K-member. At 39 lb, the MM K-member is 22% lighter than the OEM K-member, and yet it's the strongest, stiffest, and most durable K-member available.

New!
Updated design for better fitment with 2015+ Coyote engines. All MMKM-2.1 k-members shipped after 8/1/18 are of the new design.

Better by design
MM's Engineering Team optimized the suspension geometry to increase cornering grip and produce a better-handling Mustang. A design goal was to maximize stiffness, as that keeps the suspension geometry stable when cornering. The added stiffness makes the handling more precise and increases stability under braking.

Like the OEM K-member, MM K-members are designed and built to last for the life of your Mustang. While most aftermarket K-members focus on shedding weight, our design priorities led us to create advanced cross-bracing and triangulation of tube intersections to ensure the strength and durability needed for this mission-critical part. We use thicker-gauge metal and larger tube sizes than other companies to ensure the MM K-member has the strength to handle drag race launches and wheel stands, road race use, and of course the rigors of daily street driving.

Required for installation

  • Tubular front control arms
  • Front coil-over conversion with high-performance struts
  • MM Aluminum Steering Rack Bushings
  • Caster camber plates
  • Bolt-through-style bumpsteer kit
  • 4.6L modular engines that have an OEM oil cooler require an Oil Filter Relocation Kit
  • Short swaybar endlinks
  • Front swaybar relocation brackets required with non-offset and forward-offset Front Control Arms
  • Universal Front Swaybar Bushings required with non-offset and forward-offset Front Control Arms
  • Coyote engine requires 1996-2004 4.6L V8 engine mounts

Recommended

  • Solid steering shaft
  • Strut tower brace
  • Front swaybar bracket reinforcements (1979-1993 only)

Notes

  • For installing a 5.0L, 302, 351W, 2.3L engine in a 1979-1995 Mustang, use the MMKM-1.
  • Stock front control arms won't fit because of the large size of the pivot bushings.
  • For 1979-1993 Mustangs, we make 3 different front control arms. Each does something different:
    • maintains the stock fore/aft tire location
    • shifts the tires forward 0.75"
    • shifts the tires forward 1.5"
  • For 1994-1995 Mustangs, we make 2 different front control arms. Each does something different:
    • shifts the tires forward 0.75"
    • shifts the tires forward 1.5"
  • Installation with 3.8L V6 engine requires 1996-2004 V6 engine mounts.
  • Has clearance for Canton 15-784 oil pan.
  • LSX engines require fabrication of engine mounts, or Ford modular engine mounts can be modified to fit the LSX block.

Fitment Notes:

2015+ Coyote engine fitment
The 2015+ Mustang GT Coyote engines have Charge Motion Control Valves (CMCV), also known as intake manifold runner controls. The manifold runners have air valves that are moved by vacuum motors located at the back of the intake manifold. The movement is controlled by the ECU. The purpose is to provide better idle control and higher torque at low RPM's. The GT350 intake manifold also has CMCV and the vacuum motors.

The Problem
The CMCV vacuum motors on a 2015+ Coyote engine interfere with the Fox/SN95 firewall when the engine is mounted in the typical location, as dictated by standard 4.6L motor mounts.

Ford Performance no longer sells production 2011-2014 Coyote engines. The only production engines they sell now are 2015+ models.

Solutions

  • Mount the engine 0.7" further forward than the location set by standard 4.6L motor mounts. See "Relocating the engine" below for how to do this.
  • Remove the vacuum motors, which will require modifications to the intake manifold to disable the CMCV, along with a custom engine tune.
  • Install a 2011-2014 GT intake manifold, which does not have CMCV, and which will require a custom engine tune.
  • Install a Boss 302 manifold, which does not have CMCV, and which will also require a custom engine tune.

Relocating the engine

  • Different motor mounts are required. Currently available motor mounts can be modified to move the engine 0.7" forward: 6-504-BL or MMSMM-2.
  • Coming soon! Use our new solid motor mounts that do not require modification to mount the engine forward.
  • Coming soon! Use our new urethane mounts that do not require modification to mount the engine forward.

MM K-member changes for engine relocation
We changed our MMKM-2.1 K-member to accommodate the Coyote oil pan when the engine is moved forward. The only change is to the design of the brace for the main tube. The new design provides clearance for the relocated oil pan.

Fits
1979-1995 Mustang with one of these engines:

  • 4.6L modular, 2V and 4V
  • 5.4L modular
  • 3.8L V6
  • 5.0L Coyote (does NOT require oil filter relocation kit)
  • LSX

  • Most aftermarket tubular front control arms
  • 4.6L modular engines that have an OEM oil cooler require an Oil Filter Relocation Kit
  • MM Forward-offset Front Control Arms require Front Swaybar Relocation Brackets
  • Installation with Coyote engine requires 1996-2004 4.6L V8 engine mounts.

Does NOT fit:

  • Hellion turbo kit on 4.6L modular engine. Use MMKM-3.1
  • Stock Ford front control arms
  • Stock location springs; coil-over conversion is required
  • 1996-2004 Mustang chassis
  • Any steering rack bushings other than MMST-6
