2018+ Mustang GT Fuel System Upgrades

The common issue for S550 Mustang owners is "What fuel system to do I need for my car?  The 2018+ Mustang GT is direct injected, which means it does require certain components for maximum power. In this article we briefly touch on fuel system upgrades for different power levels. From a simple drop in replacement pump to a full blown 1400+ hp capable system.

Upgrading to a return style fuel system to your 2018+ Mustang GT is important when adding a supercharger, turbo or nitrous. The stock system uses a single pump and will not flow enough fuel to support forced induction. The factory direct injection system is different than standard system found in the 2011-2017 Mustangs. The most popular upgrade is a boost a pump, otherwise known as a BAP. This simple add-on is designed specifically for use on performance applications where there is a need for increased fuel pump performance. If you have reached the limits of your stock system, this is the best first step. The typical boost a pump will increase the output of the stock pump by over 40-50%, its perfect for both street or racing or racing applications.

Next on the list of simple fuel system upgrades is the drop-in replacement high output pump. In-tank is the ideal placement for high-performance fuel pumps; they are more reliable, less complicated, quieter, and more cost-effective than in any other location. When used as a direct replacement for the OE pump, the user can retain all the benefits of the OE fuel system including excellent low fuel level pick up, pump programmability through the OE pump controller, and retainment of all OE fuel lines. Great for basic bolts-ons like intake, tune and exhaust. 

The Deatschwerks in tank fuel pump for the 2015+ Mustang is our most popular option. The DW400 works great as a more durable option than the stock pump and will support 1000hp on gas and 750hp on E85.
