Project Big Bend Bronco is here at Beefcake Racing and its ready for upgrades. In our opinion, stock isn't nearly as fun as a lifted and more capable 4x4. The amount of options for wheels, tires, lift kits, bumpers and anything in between can be overwhelming. It's best to determine your purpose and overall goal before modifying your Bronco. Luckily we are immersed in the aftermarket automotive industry and work directly with manufacturers to help you increase performance for both street and off-road use. Suspension Lift Kit, Wheels, Tires
Lifting our 2021 Bronco was easy with a Zone Off Road 2 in spacer kit. Stock factory lift is adequate, but we needed more room for bigger tires. The ability to add larger tires will help during off-road adventures and a give us better stance overall. Adding a set of N-Fab side steps will help make entry and exit duties much easier.
After installing the Zone lift kit, we easily fit a set of Nitto 35x12.5x18 Recon Grapplers and gained more articulation and traction. The extra suspension flex gives more capabilities in off highway situations. The all terrain tread of the Grapplers are good for mud, dirt and highway driving. The ride is quiet at cruising speeds and actually feels more stable than the factory suspension.
Choosing the right wheel was a tough choice, but our friends at Black Rhino Wheels pointed us in the right direction. They specialize in heavy duty off-road wheels, so we gladly took their advice. The Kelso wheel is gorgeous and the Battle Ship Gray center contrasts the Ford factory paint really wheel. The lift kit gave us the ability to run a nice 18x9 wheel with a 5.47in backspace. These Black Rhino Kelso wheels are direct fit for the Bronco, no wheel spacers were needed and we had adequate clearance with the wheels fully turned at maximum articulation.
Take a look, all complete Stage 1 setup. Think its time to get dirty, looks too clean in front of the house!
Installation of the Bronco 2in lift kit was quite simple, only took a few hours using simple hand tools. Precision methods were used to check the factory stock ride height compared to the new lift. Finger licking GOOD!
Power and Performance Upgrades
Coming soon...horsepower numbers. We placed the 2.3L Ecoboost Bronco on the dyno at Finish Line Performance. In stock form, Ford claims stock Ecoboost power output to be 270hp / 310tq with the 2.7L option boasting a little more at 310hp / 400tq. We have a few tricks up our sleeves like tuning, exhaust, intake etc to make more power to handle the heavier wheels and tires. The 2.3L Eco will be a nice little performer even with the manual transmission. Surprisingly we grabbed the 7-speed trans instead of the 10-speed auto.
Exterior Upgrades - COMING SOON
First thing we need to do after installing our lift kit was to figure out how to properly mount a 35in tire onto the tailgate of our Bronco. Luckily, Rough Country has an easy mounting solution that also adds extra strength. The Bronco Spare Tire Relocation Kit relocates the factory spare tire assembly upwards by 2in, allowing you to easily clear a 35in aftermarket spare tire above your factory rear bumper. We also then added the matching 3rd brake light kit and tailgate reinforcement brace for additional peace of mind.
All the Rough County components work great together. Install was simple and holds our Black Rhino / Nitto 35" wheel combo while still allowing the 3rd brake light to work properly.
Stay tuned as we add more Bronco upgrades in the near future.
